Pop Chorus is a feel-good adult contemporary choir, unashamedly singing pop songs in glorious multi-part harmony to professional backing tracks.

Singing is good for people and such a natural thing for humans to do – it’s something we’ve always done to mark important events in our lives, for communication, within our work, to celebrate, to commemorate and to unify. This choir was built on a foundation of inclusivity and a determination not to let experience, ability to read music, or finances hinder anyone who wanted the opportunity to join with some like-minded people and belt out some great songs.

The original Framlingham group was founded in spring 2012 with just 8 singers by Suffolk-based Yula Andrews, a trained singer with over 25 years of performing experience, ranging from Puccini to ABBA tributes! She has been leading choirs and offering vocal coaching for over 15 years and is a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing and the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

By early 2020 we had grown to over 400 members across our 8 groups in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Kesgrave, Framlingham, Halesworth and Long Melford. Yula also runs regular singing groups and ad hoc workshops for health and wellbeing, people living with dementia and Parkinson’s sufferers, and from the WI to insurance companies, schools and even a local prison.

The majority of our performing takes place at the numerous local events we’re invited to participate in and for lots of regional charities. We’re enormously proud to have raised over £50,000 in the last 5 years for St Elizabeth Hospice, Iceni, FIND (Families In Need) and 4YP amongst others.

In previous years, we’ve also been privileged to perform at Latitude and First Light festivals, and sold out our own concerts at local venues from Dance EAST and Seckford Theatre to Ipswich Corn Exchange and Regent Theatre.

In 2017 we hit the singles download charts with our own song ‘Always’, raising funds for St Elizabeth Hospice. We’ve also collaborated with musicians including Mara Simpson and Jack Robertson, and artist Bruce Munro on his ‘Ribbon Of Light’ project.
