‘Human’, our debut at Ipswich Regent Theatre

Dec 1, 2018

We were proud to perform our biggest concert yet in front of a capacity audience at the Ipswich’s flagship venue the Regent Theatre on Saturday 1st December 2018.

Over 250 singers from the choir’s local groups performed joyous and intricate arrangements of great pop songs in glorious 5-part harmony in our brand new show ‘Human’: a celebration of all of us. It marked the culmination of an amazing year that had seen the choir sell out the Corn Exchange, hit the UK singles download charts, and make our triumphant debut at that summer’s Latitude Festival.

We also raised funds on the evening for Ipswich-based charity Iceni, which helps issues-faced families give children the opportunity to have a safe, healthy and happy start in life.

The concert also featured guest appearances from two other local groups that director Yula Andrews works with: Iceni (comprising staff and clients) and Debenham Girls (a social activity group for young ladies with additional needs).

Pop Chorus Director, Yula Andrews, said “We’re positively buzzing to be playing Ipswich’s largest theatre at the end of such an exciting year. Singing is just so good for people and I can’t wait to show what our singers can do when over 250 hit the Regent stage!”

Ipswich Regent’s Technical Manager Martyn Herbert, said “We’re relishing the prospect, and can’t wait to get our teeth into such a large scale production. It’ll be the most singers I’ll have seen on the Regent Stage and will prove to be a technical challenge, but I’m sure the result will be spectacular.”
